Abstract
Hugo Chavez, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela from 1999 to 2013, emerged on the national and international political scene as a promoter of the political discourse of Chavism, which created an image of this theory in front of society. Hugo Chavez left behind a historical political career that led to the formation of staunch supporters as well as domestic and regional opponents. This article seeks to analyze the process of formation of Chavism or Bolivarianism as a political ideology. To do this, a brief historical review of the ideological formation of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, his views and the consolidation of his leadership will be carried out. The origins and characteristics of this political theory will also be examined. One of the prominent features of this theory was the revolution and complete change in the political foundation of this country. Therefore, Chavez's behavior with politics and the kind of view he had towards other political movements, especially socialism and Marxism, as well as the role of Chavism in the process of strengthening the sense of identification with Venezuelans and bringing the working classes and anti-capitalist behaviors to the fore will also be examined.
