Sufism is a branch of Islamic mysticism that originates from the Holy Quran. It is also the practical dimension of mysticism. Indeed, what is discussed in this article is the praised Sufism, which our great mystics consider to be synonymous with mysticism, but refuse to use it due to the deviations created in Sufism. In this research, the differences between mysticism and Sufism have also been pointed out. Mystical knowledge is a kind of cognition that comes from the heart and its tool is the cultivation and purification of the soul. This kind of knowledge is not of acquired knowledge; rather it is of conscience, presence and attainment; although there is no proof for it. The mysticism itself is mentioned in the Qur'an and even western orientalists acknowledge it. The mysticism and Sufism relies only on the purification of the soul based on wayfaring to God and closeness to the truth until the stage of attaining the truth, and has no confidence in rational arguments.
