Marriage ceremonies, as one of the most important social rituals in many cultures, represent the values, beliefs, and traditions of that society. India and Iran, two countries with rich history and culture, have diverse and meaningful marriage ceremonies, each shaped by cultural, religious, and social factors. The present research aims to answer the questions of whether there are commonalities in marriage ceremonies in Iran and some ceremonies in India, what are the roots and reasons for this similarity, and what are some of the differences in these ceremonies. In Iran, marriage ceremonies are usually accompanied by special rituals such as Henna Night, the Aqd ceremony (religious marriage ceremony), and various celebrations, and are influenced by Islamic and Zoroastrian cultures. In contrast, India, as a country with multiple religions, includes diverse marriage ceremonies that originate from Hindu, Islamic, Sikh, and other traditions. On the other hand, there are many commonalities between marriage ceremonies in Iran and India, such as the importance of family formation, customs and traditions related to marriage ceremonies, gifts, parties, and commemoration of the ceremony, and the reasons for these commonalities should be found in their ethnic, racial, territorial, historical, mythological, and religious beliefs. This research, using an analytical-descriptive method and gathering information from library and field sources, empirical observations, numerous articles, as well as anthropological analysis, examines the role of family, ceremonies, and cultural symbols in these two countries. The results show that in both cultures, moving beyond individuality and emphasizing family and society are considered the main foundations in marriage ceremonies, but there are significant differences in methods and details.
