A study of the circumstances, works, and style of Hassan Dehlavi's poems and the reflection of Quranic themes in his poems

Abstract

Amir Najm al-Din Hassan ibn Alaa Sajzi Dehlavi is one of the prominent poets of the 7th and 8th centuries AH. He is known as the Saadi of India due to his attention to Saadi's style of expression. Hassan Dehlavi was one of the poets of the Delhi Sultanate in the Indian subcontinent who was known as one of the greats of literature and mysticism in his era. In his poems, in addition to expressing romantic and lyrical themes, he also explored deep mystical and religious concepts and was greatly influenced by the Holy Quran and Islamic teachings in his poems. This study, using a descriptive and analytical method, examines the biography, works, and poetic style of Hassan Dehlavi, as well as the reflection of Quranic themes with an emphasis on topics related to divine prophets in his poems. The study of the subject shows that in his Divan, there are extensive allusions to Quranic concepts and stories, including the stories of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Prophet Joseph, Prophet Noah, Prophet Moses, Prophet Solomon and other divine prophets, peace be upon them, which are expressed in an artistic manner and using literary devices. Also, in addition to references to the prophets, other themes such as: broken letters and poetic themes and images; gratitude for blessings; Laylat al-Qadr; Allah is the best preserver; the sun of guidance, the adh-dhuhi, the night; the two-tailed rope; the book of deeds; the honor of the writers; the wounded eye; the will of God and the will of man; Ayat al-Kursi; the burden of trust; the straight path; divine grace; the five times of prayer; the pen of forgiveness; the best painter and being free from women and children are among the cases of influence from the Quran in his poems.
